Weekend Lock 🔒
Liverpool (1.46) ⚽
Explaining the Pick 👇
This weekend’s Weekend Lock is Liverpool to beat Newcastle at home.
In their first game of 2024, we expect Liverpool to come out on top against Newcastle. Newcastle has struggled immensely on the road this season, and winning a game at Anfield is no easy feat. Liverpool have gone unbeaten against Newcastle in Premier League competitions dating back to 2015, over a 14-game span. They have been victorious in the last five of these games. Arsenal star, Mo Salah, seems to always find the back of the net against Newcastle, scoring in five of his last six appearances against the side. Look for him to continue his offensive contribution on New Years Day, when Arsenal beats Newcastle at home.
Weekend Dawg 🤑
Montreal Canadiens (3.12) 🏒
Explaining the Pick 👇
This week’s Weekend Dawg is the Montreal Canadiens, who face off against the Florida Panthers. Going into the season, the Canadiens were looked at as a bottom-5 team. However, they have been able to compete against some of the strongest teams this season.
Led in scoring by captain Nick Suzuki, the Canadiens have looked solid the past few weeks. Goaltender Sam Montembeault will get the start on Saturday night, in his first game back since the holiday break. He is well-rested and coming off a recent contract extension. Although they have been plagued with injuries, the Canadiens are a versatile and gritty team, and should be able to put up a very good fight against the Panthers.
Weekend Orbit 🚀
Detroit Pistons (2.66) 🏀
Explaining the Pick 👇
We have the Detroit Pistons this week, yet again, as our Weekend Orbit.
The Pistons have been setting NBA records for all the wrong reasons this year. They currently hold a tie for the longest losing-streak in NBA history. 28 straight games.
The Pistons had a heartbreaking overtime loss earlier this week against the league-leading Boston Celtics where they looked surprisingly competitive. Tonight, they face off at home against the underwhelming Toronto Raptors. We expect the Pistons to lead the charge early, and finally put an end to a miserable losing-streak. Everyone wants to see the Pistons win a game. Tonight, they get the job done.
